The purpose of the Aiming4Amy app is to assist in the many fundraising efforts, to make the community aware, and build support for Amy Evans, to create an annual fundraising event, until Amy Evans is cured. Then we will identify another person in the community with liver cancer and republish the app to aid that person.
On April 29, 2014, Amy Evans was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). While this type of cancer is most associated with diseased livers, Amy’s doctors said her case is so unusual because of her young age and the fact that her liver is otherwise healthy, working at 100% normal function. Primary liver cancer (which starts in the liver), accounts for only about 2% of cancers in the U.S.
In May, Amy underwent two major surgeries and has had 75% of her liver removed. Despite the surgeries, the life-threatening tumors are continuing to grow at a rapid rate and are not responding to recent radiation treatment. Chemotherapy is her current treatment, however, she has a long road ahead of her fighting this aggressive cancer...
Since the heartbreaking diagnosis, Amy has been unable to work due to many doctor visits, hospital stays, therapy, and side effects from treatments. She has a daughter, Ashley and two boys, Nathan and Mark. She also has two step-daughters, Mariah, and Alexis, (who has a 2 year old daughter, Noelani). Amy and her loving husband, Mark have been so strong throughout this painful ordeal. Now, its time to do our part to help raise money for the financial cost of cancer. Amy and her family need our help!!!
